Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 21, 2026
This policy explains what information the Iron Cast app ("Iron Cast", "the app", "we") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Iron Cast is a workout tracking app with optional social features such as friends, a shared feed, and direct messages.
In short: we collect only what the app needs to work. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking.
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us. You can also use the app as a guest without an email address.
- Profile information: your display name, username, and profile photo. Your display name, username, and photo are visible to other users so they can find and add you as a friend.
- Fitness and body information: workouts, exercises, sets, programs, personal records, awards, and, if you choose to enter them, your sex, date of birth, body weight, body-fat percentage, and other body measurements. This information is used to calculate your progress and statistics.
- Social content: workouts you share to the feed, photos you attach, comments, reactions, mentions, competitions, coaching requests, friend connections, and direct messages you send.
- Feedback and reports: messages, screenshots, or screen recordings you choose to send with in-app feedback, and any content or users you report or block.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location (optional): if you allow location access, the app looks up your city, region, and country when you finish a workout so it can be shown on your shared post. Only these place names are saved; your exact GPS coordinates are not stored. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Online status: whether you are currently active in the app, so friends can see when you are online.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications, a device token is stored so we can notify you about new messages and activity.
- Device information with feedback: when you send feedback, your device model, iOS version, and app version are attached to help us fix problems.
Camera and photo library
With your permission, the app uses the camera and photo library so you can take or choose profile photos, workout photos, and feedback attachments. The app only accesses the photos you select.
How we use information
- To provide the app's features: saving and syncing your workouts, calculating statistics, and showing your progress.
- To run the social features you choose to use: your feed, friends, comments, competitions, and messages.
- To send notifications you have allowed.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing blocks, and removing content that breaks the rules.
- To respond to your feedback and support requests and to fix bugs.
Who can see your information
- Other users: your display name, username, and profile photo are visible to other Iron Cast users. Workouts you share, and their photos, location label, comments, and reactions, are visible to your friends. Direct messages are visible to the people in the conversation.
- Service providers: we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions) to store data and run the app's backend, Expo's push notification service and Apple Push Notification service to deliver notifications, and Apple's location services to turn your position into a city name. These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers operated by Google Firebase and is transmitted over encrypted connections. Access is limited by security rules so that private data, such as your body measurements and messages, can be read only by you or the people you share it with. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, workouts, body measurements, posts, photos, friend connections, and conversations from our servers. You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing us at the address below.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and body information at any time in the app.
- Turn off location, camera, photo, or notification access in iOS Settings.
- Block or report other users.
- Request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
Children
Iron Cast is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
